Social Media Club Quarterly Mixer – Wednesday. March 7th

As social media evolves, the way the Victoria Social Media Club operates has evolved as well. The SMC Victoria leadership is pleased to announce some exciting changes to our meeting format!

Firstly, as of March 7th, we will begin to meet quarterly. When possible the group will meet the first Wednesday of every “seasonal change” month (meaning March, June, September and December).

Secondly, our meeting format will turn to more of a mixer & informational session. Every meeting will host a “Social Media Help Desk” from 6:30-7pm for all levels of social media users. Bring your questions about how to start up a Facebook business page, what does a hashtag mean and how can I best gather search engine optimization.

The meeting will continue from 7-9pm with a serious time of mingling, interaction and discussion, and up to three people giving 5-10 minute presentations on the latest tool, discovery or even what & how they’re doing social media. (If you have topics you’d like to present, email Melanie Friebel).

Thirdly, bring cash or a food donation which will go to Mustard Seed. Social media is, in part, about community, and we want to support OUR community and those less fortunate.

Finally…the details for our Spring Mixer:
As mentioned, Wednesday, March 7, 2012, 6:30-9pm (Help Desk 6:30-7) at our favourite cabin in town, Cabin 12. Our new location will be at the Veneto Tapa Lounge, on the corner of Douglas and Pandora.

$7 at the door which will cover appies inside and yes, the bar will be open.

One more thing – IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY!!!! Yes. March 2012 marks our 3rd Birthday, so who knows…there might even be cake.

Chris Burdge, Founder and President of bWest Interactive, has worked with hundreds of companies from fortune 500 corporations like HP, General Motors and Nestle to start-ups and regional companies like Planet Organic Markets, Megson FitzPatrick Insurance and Tofino Beach Homes.

Chris is fluent in spoken Japanese with eight years experience working in Tokyo ad agencies in a Japanese-language work environment.
